Not the best start to camp

Arizona State returned to camp as the 2021 season is just on the horizon. However, finding a new starting punter will be one of the storylines this fall. On Thursday, All-Pac-12 punter Michael Turk put his name into the NCAA Transfer Portal.

Sun Devil Source tweeted that the program is not traveling players who haven’t been vaccinated for Covid-19 this year. If you have followed Turk and his YouTube channel, it has been clear that he is opposed to taking the vaccine, thus making sense of his decision to leave the program abruptly.

It appears that Herm Edwards and the Sun Devils don’t want to risk any games this season due to an outbreak and have decided to take no risks.

Logan Tyler, who transferred to Tempe from Florida State before the 2020 season, has a lot of experience punting. In his career as a Seminole, he had 209 punts and 42.5 yards per punt. Tyler is also competing for the place kicker job currently. True freshman Eddie Czaplicki is another possible candidate.
