ASU Football: Defensive end Travez Moore out for the season due to a knee injury

When it rains it pours

The aftermath from Provo continues to bring bad news for the Sun Devils. Coach Herm Edwards announced that defensive end Travez Moore suffered a season-ending knee injury during the fourth quarter of the loss to BYU.

Moore, who transferred into the program from LSU over the offseason, was an important piece of the Sun Devil pass rush that already missed Jermayne Lole. Despite not being the “true” starter of the defensive end spots like Tyler Johnson and Michael Matus, Moore appeared a lot in third-down packages.

The pair of younger players most likely to fill the role are Anthonie Cooper and Joe Moore. Stanley Lambert should also see increase in snaps in the position that he changed to as well. However, the pass rush — which already struggled to get to the quarterback with four lone rushers — seems to be in even more trouble because of injury. It’ll be another test for defensive coordinator Antonio Pierce to scheme up different looks against Pac-12 offenses.
