ASU Football: Sun Devils gain commitment from South Carolina defensive lineman Robby Harrison

Good recruiting news

Zac BonDurant

Lately, there hasn’t been positive recruiting news for Arizona State. That changed on Monday. Herm Edwards and the Sun Devils received the commitment from 2022 defensive lineman Robby Harrison.

Harrison comes from South Carolina, a state that hasn’t brought a lot of players to Tempe. Nevertheless, the nationwide search for recruits is still evident in the program’s plan.

247Sports and Rivals both see Harrison has a three-star recruit at this moment. However, Harrison had plenty of interest from other schools. Michigan, Minnesota, Washington State, Indiana and Cincinnati were among the schools that also extended offers to him.

As Arizona State’s injuries on the defensive line have shown, you can’t ever have too many. The 6-foot-3, 285-pound defensive lineman should find a role early on in his career.

The Sun Devils are still lacking commits. Arizona State now have five pieces of the 2022 class as Harrison joins fellow defensive tackle Syncere Massey, running back Tevin White, safety Tristan Dunn and kicker Carter Brown. According to 247Sports team rankings, the Sun Devils are last in points and total commitments — Washington State and Utah are the next lowest with eight — in the Pac-12.
