Arizona State (3-2) opened the Ameritas Players Challenge in Lincoln, Nebraska on Friday. The Sun Devils went to five sets in both games of their doubleheader.

Isanovic’s career game not enough to top Georgia

Iman Isanovic was stellar for the Sun Devils in the early morning slate. However, Georgia (3-1) scraped by Arizona State 3-2 (25-22, 18-25, 25-16, 20-25, 15-7) despite Isanovic’s career-high 23 kills against the Bulldogs.

The junior outside hitter set the mark on a .314 hitting percentage leading her team to wins in the second and fourth sets.

Errors doomed the Sun Devils in the final set as they committed four mistakes to only three kills before Georgia scored five consecutive points to secure the win.

Marta Levinska set her season-high at 13 kills as well. Ella Snyder recorded a double-double in the setter role having 36 assists and 10 digs in the loss.

Arizona State rides Isanovic’s 27 to victory

What’s better than 23? 27. Isanovic’s career-high didn’t last long as she surpassed the mark she set earlier in the day to guide the Sun Devils to a 3-2 (25-21, 23-25, 19-25, 26-24, 15-13).

She wasn’t the only setting high marks. Snyder had 49 assists, a career-high for herself. Annika Larson’s 30 digs were the most of her career. Levinska collected 13 more kills and added 13 digs for a double-double. Freshman Meadow Cooper got the start and gave her team 14 digs.

The Sun Devils finish their trip on Saturday taking on powerhouse and fourth-ranked Nebraska at 4:00 p.m. Arizona Time.
