This is the second of a four-part series looking back at ASU's past four recruiting classes. Up next is the class of 2012, which featured recruits from both Dennis Erickson's staff as well as Todd Graham's staff.

The 2012 recruiting class will go down as one of change at Arizona State. On November 28, 2011, Dennis Erickson was fired after five seasons as the head coach of Arizona State. Within four months, ASU had a new head coach and a new athletic director.

Todd Graham was hired on December 14, 2011. He inherited a team in need of discipline and a recruiting class that needed completion. Anytime a new head coach is hired, one of the main priorities is recruiting. Graham and the new staff had to evaluate and form relationships with the committed players as well as try to go out and target their own players to finish the class.

When the dust settled, ASU signed a class of 23 players in 2012. The class consisted of 11 defensive players, 10 offensive players, one special teams player and one "athlete." The signing class was ranked No. 38 in the country and No. 9 in the Pac-12 by Rivals .

Overview

The 2012 recruiting class was a combination between the staffs of Erickson and Graham. After being hired on December 14, 2011, Graham and his staff hit the recruiting trail hard in order to finish the recruiting cycle strong. They were able to land a handful of impactful commitments, including a few key in-state targets.

Four commitments were ranked as 4-star players according to ESPN and three were ranked as 4-star players according to Rivals.

One area where Graham and his staff hit hard was the junior college ranks. ASU signed nine junior college players in this class, seven of them committed after the coaching change.

Another theme of this class was the "Poly Five," the group of five players from the same high school in Long Beach, Calif., that all committed to Arizona State in the 2012 recruiting class. Four of them signed with ASU, three of them made it to campus, however only one of them is still on the team.

The Commits

Note: These commits were either true juniors or redshirt sophomores in 2014, with the exception of the junior college players signed.

QB - 0

RB - 3

D.J. Foster - Scottsdale, Ariz. (ESPN #21 ATH****) (Rivals: #5 ATH**** #71 nationally)

Foster was the first major commitment to Graham and the current staff. He chose ASU over USC, Cal and Oregon with less than a week until national signing day. Foster has started since he walked onto campus in 2012. That season, he rushed for 493 yards and recorded 533 receiving yards, with 10 total touchdowns.

The Scottsdale, Ariz. product rushed for 1,081 yards in 2014 and was named second team All-Pac-12. Foster has proven to be one of the most versatile players in school history and is likely to spend most of next season at wide receiver.

Marion Grice - Houston, Tex. Blinn C.C. (ESPN: N/A) (Rivals: N/A**** #5 JC player nationally)

Less than a week after landing Foster, ASU picked up a commitment from another high profile running, this time it was from the junior college ranks. Marion Grice was rated as the No. 1 JUCO running back in the country by Rivals. He joined Foster in the ASU backfield in 2012, rushing for 679 yards and being named honorable mention All-Pac-12.

In 2013, Grice made the second team All-Pac-12 team after he rushed for 996 yards. Despite playing just two seasons, Grice left Tempe fifth on ASU's all-time touchdown list, finding the endzone 39 times in just 25 games.

Terrell Davis - Alberta, Canada (ESPN: #175**) (Rivals: N/A**)

Davis came to ASU with a familiar name, but did not find nearly the success that the other running back who shares his name found. After redshirting in 2012, he played in one game in 2013 and transferred in the spring of 2014. He now plays college football in Canada.

TE - 0

WR - 3

Richard Smith - Long Beach, Calif. (ESPN: #39****) (Rivals: #63***)

Smith caught 32 passes for 276 yards in 2013, however he became infamous for the passes he didn't catch. Smith was plagued by drops during his time at ASU. In 2014, his time in Tempe ended, as he transferred to Boise State and sat out last season. Smith will be eligible for the Broncos this fall.

Josiah Blandin - Long Beach, Calif. (ESPN: #67***) (Rivals: #89***)

Blandin was Smith's teammate at Long Beach Poly High School. He wore maroon and gold for an even shorter amount of time than Smith did. After not seeing action in 2012, Blandin transferred to a junior college in California in the spring of 2013. He is currently committed to Colorado in their 2015 recruiting class.

Alonzo Agwuenu - Chinco Hills, Calif., Mt. San Antonio C.C. (ESPN: N/A) (Rivals: N/A)

Agwuenu appeared in 14 games over two years with the program. In 2012, he caught 11 passes and appeared in 11 games. However, his number dipped in 2013 as he caught just one pass and appeared in three games that season for Arizona State.

TE - 2

Kody Kohl - Gilbert, Ariz. (ESPN: #93**) (Rivals: N/A**)

Kohl starred at Mesquite High School before coming to Arizona State where he had a quiet first two seasons in Tempe. Kohl redshirted in 2012 and did not see any action in 2013. In 2014, he somewhat surprisingly became the No. 1 tight end option, catching 16 passes for 167 yards and four touchdowns. With De'Marieya Nelson graduating, Kohl should start 2015 as the clear No. 1 tight end.

Darwin Rogers - Chicago, Ill., Arizona Western C.C. (ESPN: N/A) (Rivals: N/A**)

Rogers was one of the most physically intimidating players on the ASU roster in 2012 and 2013. On the field, he caught 4 passes for 43 yards and a touchdown in two seasons at Arizona State. He was used mostly as a blocker in his two seasons with the Sun Devils.

OT - 2

Evan Goodman - Lakeland, Fla. (ESPN: #21****) (Rivals: #30****)

Goodman's older brother signed with ASU in the 2011 class, and Evan who stayed committed after the coaching change. Goodman had offers from Florida, Auburn, FSU, Georgia, LSU, Notre Dame and Ohio State out of high school.

He saw action in 11 games in 2012 and redshirted in 2013. After spending 2014 as a backup he is projected to be the starting left tackle come fall of 2015.

William McGehee Corsicana, Tex., Navarro C.C. (ESPN: N/A) (Rivals: N/A**)

McGehee has been a reserve lineman the past two seasons in Tempe and will be a redshirt senior this fall.

OG - 1

Stephon McCray - Fresno, Calif. (ESPN: #21****) (Rivals: #43***)

McCray redshirted in 2012 and has been a reserve lineman the past two seasons. Most noticeably, McCray filled in for center Nick Kelly in the Territorial Cup when Kelly was injured in the first quarter. He brings a great amount of versatility to the offensive line.

LS - 1

Easton Wahlstrom - Scottsdale, Ariz. (ESPN #8**) (Rivals: N/A**)

Wahlstrom has been the ASU longsnapper since 2012. The fact that most people reading this piece do not know his name means he did a great job. It was recently announced that Wahlstrom will graduate early and not be part of the 2015 team.

DT - 4

Mike Pennel - Aurora, Colo., Scottsdale C.C. (ESPN: N/A) (Rivals: N/A***)

Pennel found himself in the "doghouse" of Graham and his defensive staff early in his ASU career. Pennel posted a series of tweets complaining about his playing time in October of 2012 and a few days later he was suspended from the team for a violation of team rules.

Pennel transfered to Colorado State University Pueblo and was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Packers in 2014, where he played in 13 games this past season.

Jake Sheffield - Denver, Colo., College of the Desert C.C. (ESPN: N/A) (Rivals: N/A***)

Sheffield's biggest claim to fame at ASU is running out with the American flag onto the field before every game. A former military serviceman, Sheffield played in 22 games in two seasons at Arizona State, making just nine career tackles.

Milo Jordan - Corona, Calif. (ESPN: #88***) (Rivals: N/A***)

Jordan never enrolled at Arizona State. Academic issues forced him to attend Arizona Western C.C. after signing with ASU.

Jaxon Hood - Chandler, Ariz. (ESPN: #164**) (Rivals: N/A***)

Hood made a few freshman All-American teams in 2012 after starting 12 games, posting 26 tackles and three sacks. In 2013, he suffered through injuries and only made 17 tackles.

This past year, Hood struggled with a personal issue that kept him out of part of training camp and again at the end of the season. It remains to be seen what his future with the program is.

ILB - 1

Steffon Martin - Indianapolis, Ind., Arizona Western C.C. (ESPN: N/A) (Rivals: N/A*** #34 JUCO player nationally)

Martin had a very active career with ASU. He played in all 27 games during his two seasons with the program, posting 70 tackles in his career.

OLB - 3

Carlos Mendoza - Woodland Hills, Calif. (ESPN: #75***) (Rivals: N/A***)

Mendoza provided an immediate impact on the 2012 defense, intercepting two passes in the second game of the season against Illinois. However, he suffered a season-ending shoulder injury that game and his career has not gotten back on track.

Mendoza only tallied five tackles in 2013 and he has been surpassed on the depth chart by younger players. Mendoza will still be in the mix at linebacker in 2015 but has not had the same impact since his freshman year.

Matt Rowe - Long Beach, Calif. (ESPN: #37***) (Rivals: #61***)

After redshirting in 2012, Rowe did not see action in 2013 and he transferred in the spring of 2014.

Salamo Fiso - Long Beach, Calif. (ESPN: #32***) (Rivals: #26***)

Fiso is the most successful of the four players to sign to ASU from Poly High School in Long Beach. Fiso redshirted in 2012 and was moved the starting lineup early in the 2013 season. He made 10 starts and appeared in all 14 games as a redshirt freshman, totaling 71 tackles and 5.5 tackles for loss.

In 2014, he started all 13 games and posted 83 tackles, 11.5 tackles for loss and 3.5 sacks. Fiso has proven to be an excellent run defender and one of the most consistent defensive players for ASU the past two years. The exciting thing for Sun Devil fans is that he has two years of eligibility left.

S - 2

Laiu Moeakiola - Euless, Tex. (ESPN: #151**) (Rivals: #42***)

After starting his career in the secondary, Moeakiola moved into the front seven this year at SPUR linebacker. The argument can be made he was ASU's defensive MVP this year, due to the defense's performance with him off the field.

Moeakiola tallied 72 tackles, 10.5 tackles for loss and five sacks in 2014. Moeakiola is asked to blitz, help agains the run and cover tight ends and wide receivers in ASU's defensive scheme. Like Fiso, his future is very exciting.

Chris Young - Auburn, Wash., Arizona Western C.C. (ESPN: N/A) (Rivals: N/A***)

Young was recruiting as a defensive back but made his living at ASU as a linebacker. From 2012-2013, he started all 27 games and was named second team All-Pac-12 in 2014. As a junior in 2013, he made 82 tackles, including 14 tackles for loss. In 2014, he tallied 112 tackles and 17.5 tackles for loss.

CB - 1

Oliver Johnson - Woodland Hills, Calif., Pierce C.C (ESPN: N/A) (Rivals: N/A***)

Pierce Community College produced a special ASU wide receiver that will be discussed in next week's installment of this series. However, Johnson did not work out so well, as he left the team after the 2013 season.

Analysis

This class produced several more impact players than the 2011 class did under Erickson. The former ASU coach should get some credit for his class, as Fiso, Goodman, Kohl, McCray and Mendoza are all players who committed under Erickson that went on to see playing time at ASU. Goodman and Kohl should be starters next year and Mendoza is a proven rotational player.

The more impactful players from this class come from the work Graham and his staff did at ASU, particularly in the junior college ranks. The new ASU staff secured commitments from Foster, Grice, Young, Martin, Moeakiola and Hood in less than two months. Foster's commitment remains the most impactful commitment both on the field and in the local recruiting scene for Graham and his staff.

Of the 23 players in this class, eight have made significant impacts at ASU (Foster, Grice, Fiso, Kohl, Hood, Martin, Moeakiola, Young). Goodman should assume a larger role next season and McCray, Sheffield, Rogers, Mendoza and Agwuenu all saw action or are still seeing action in a reserve role at ASU.

However, because of transfers and the large number of junior college players, only nine players remain from this class. Johnson, Blandin, Davis, Pennel and Rowe all transferred out of Tempe before their careers could get going. Jordan did not qualify and Smith departed after an up-and-down 2013 season.

Superlatives

Biggest Surprise: Laiu Moeakiola

A lot of people on the ASU team will tell you Moeakiola was the defensive MVP in 2014. He does so much in the ASU defense and he does everything well. ASU's worst games was when he was not on the field due to injury.

Biggest Disappointment: Mike Pennel

Pennel had all the tools to be a very good player in ASU's scheme. His off-the-field incidents kept him from having a successful career in Tempe. The fact that he is currently in the NFL after completing his career at Colorado State University Pueblo only reinforces that.

Best Player: D.J. Foster

It can be debated who was better between Foster and Marion Grice. The fact that Foster will play here for four years puts him above Grice to me. Foster's commitment showed early on the commitment that Graham and his staff have to keeping the best local players in the Valley.

Re-ranking the class

Moeakiola

This is the first of a four-part series leading up to national signing day where House of Sparky will look back and ASU's previous four recruiting classes. First up is the 2011 class.

Now that the calendar has turned to 2015 and the bowl season is behind us, the spotlight in college football turns to recruiting. There is less than a month until national signing day, as college coaches finalize their 2015 recruiting classes.

Arizona State has been very active in the final months of recruiting, picking up verbal commitments from 4-star recruits Stanley Norman, Zach Robertson and Paul Lucas within the past two weeks.

In the coming weeks, the 2015 recruiting class will be talked about at length, but first let's look back at ASU's previous recruiting classes. Over the next four weeks, we will look back at ASU's last four recruiting classes, starting with the 2011 class.

This group played 2014 as either redshirt juniors or true seniors, in 2015 the remaining players will be redshirt seniors playing with their final year of eligibility. It should be noted that his was Dennis Erickson's final full recruiting class as head coach of Arizona State.

Overview

The Sun Devils signed just 19 players in their 2011 recruiting class, which is on the small side. The class was ranked 58th in the nation by Rivals, behind the likes of SMU, Boise State and UCF. ESPN, which only ranked the top 25 classes at that time, did not rank ASU's class.

Two commits had 4-star ratings according to Rivals and ESPN had zero recruits ranked as a 4-star products. The Sun Devils signed five players from the state of Arizona, however they did not sign any of the top seven players in the state.

Arizona's high school class of 2011 included Brett Hundley, Ka'Deem Carey and Tyler Johnstone. Christian Westerman, the top prospect in the state, signed with Auburn out of high school and later transferred to Arizona State.

The class consisted of nine defensive players, nine offensive players and one special teams player. Four players in the class came to ASU via junior college.

The Commits

QB - 2

Michael Eubank - Corona, Calif. (ESPN #101 ATH***) (Rivals #8 DT-QB****, #193 nationally)

Eubank came to Arizona State from Centennial High School, where Dennis Erickson and staff built a nice pipeline (Vontaze Burfict, Brandon McGee). The athletic quarterback redshirted in 2011 and in the spring of 2012, lost the quarterback competition to Taylor Kelly.

He did see limited action as a backup in 2012, however Eubank transferred to Samford for the 2014 season without making a single start for the Sun Devils.

Mike Bercovici - Woodland Hills, Calif. (ESPN #80**) (Rivals: #14 PP-QB***)

The strong-armed quarterback from Southern California was the backup to Brock Osweiler in 2011 and along with Eubank, lost the starting quarterback race in 2012. That season, Todd Graham and staff decided to redshirt Bercovici and in 2013 and 2014 he served as the backup to Taylor Kelly.

In 2014, he saw his first extended playing time of his career when he filled in for an injured Kelly. He threw for 1,445 yards, 12 touchdowns and four interceptions in 2014. He will assume the starting role in 2015, his final season as a Sun Devil.

RB - 0

WR- 3

Gary Chambers - Phoenix, Ariz. (ESPN #69**) (Rivals: N/A**)

Chambers redshirted in 2011 and served on the scout team in 2012 and 2013. Graham has praised his work ethic and in 2014 he caught nine passes for 190 yards and two touchdowns. Chambers will be a redshirt senior in 2015 and should see action as a reserve next season.

Rashad Ross - Vallejo, Calif. (ESPN: N/A) (Rivals: N/A**)

Ross came to Tempe from Butler Community College and stepped in immediately for the Sun Devils. He made 14 career starts and appeared in 26 career games for the Sun Devils, catching 55 passes for 864 yards in his Sun Devil career. Ross was also a major contributor on special teams.

Karl Holmes - Pasadena, Calif. (ESPN #275) (Rivals: #N/A**)

Holmes was a late addition to the 2011 class, signing after national signing day. After redshirting in 2011 and not playing a down in 2012, Holmes transferred to Pasadena Community College in 2012 after not seeing eye-to-eye with the new coaching staff.

TE - 0

OL - 4

Vi Teofilo - Phoenix, Ariz. (ESPN: 70 OG***) (Rivals: N/A***)

After redshirting in 2011 and serving as a backup in 2012, Teofilo has started every game the past two seasons on the ASU offensive line. Teofilo has made 29 straight starts and will spend 2015 most likely back at his RG position.

Devin Goodman - Lakeland, Fla. (ESPN: #35 OG***) (Rivals: N/A***)

Goodman has been a career backup during his tenure in Tempe. He appeared in four games in 2012 and six games in 2013. His younger brother Evan, projects to be the starting left tackle next season.

Brent Walker - Norco, Calif. (ESPN: #89 OT***) (Rivals: N/A***)

Walker attended the same high school has Carl Bradford, Deantre Lewis and Garth Gerhart. He did not see action as a Sun Devil and is no longer on the roster.

Mo Latu - Gilbert, Ariz. (ESPN: #5*** OC) (Rivals: #2**** OC, #248 nationally)

Latu was the highest rated player in the class according to ESPN and the second highest according to Rivals. He is the only member of this class to be rated a top-5 player at his position by both recruiting services. Latu was moved to defense when Graham took over and he appeared in 12 games in 2012 and 11 games in 2013.

Latu earned significant playing time in 2014, especially towards the end of the season and he should be featured in the defensive line rotation in 2015.

DE - 2

Davon Coleman - Cleveland, Ohio (ESPN: N/A**) (Rivals: N/A**)

Coleman came to Arizona State from Fort Scott Community College in Kansas and he played three seasons at ASU. He appeared in 13 games in 2011, he posted 11 tackles for loss in 2012 and earned a starting role in 2013. He signed as an undrafted free agent in 2014 with the Dallas Cowboys.

Sean O'Grady - Las Flores, Calif. (ESPN #96**) (Rivals: N/A**)

O'Grady had a hard time getting his career started at ASU. He redshirted in 2011 and did not see any action in 2012. In 2013, he played in four games and he was not part of the team in 2014.

DT - 1

David Moala - Gardena, Calif. (ESPN N/A**) (Rivals: N/A**)

Moala redshirted in 2011 and was dismissed from the team by Graham for a violation of team rules.

OLB - 1

Isreal Marshall - Phoenix, Ariz. (ESPN: #114***) (Rivals: N/A***)

Marshall redshirted in 2011 and sat out 2012 with a back injury. He did not return to the team after 2012.

ILB - 1

Kipeli Koniseti - Sacramento, Calif. (ESPN: N/A) (Rivals: N/A**)

Koniseti originally signed with ASU as part of their 2009 class, however he did not qualify. He went to the College of Sequoias and enrolled at ASU in 2011. He was mostly used on special teams in 2011, appearing in nine games. He appeared in all 13 games in 2013, mostly as a special team contributor.

CB - 2

Joe Eason - Pahokee, Fla. (ESPN #128) (Rivals: N/A**)

Eason redshirted in 2011 and transferred to Scottsdale Community College after the 2012 season. He ended up playing at Missouri State.

Rashad Wadood - Lakewood, Calif. (ESPN: #82 ATH***) (Rivals: N/A***)

Wadood played a good amount in 2011 and redshirted in 2012. After only seeing time in just one game in 2013, he transferred to Eastern Washington.

S - 2

Kevin Ayers - West Los Angeles, Calif. (ESPN: N/A) (Rivals: N/A**)

Ayers was very productive in his two seasons at Arizona State, playing in 25 total games in 2011 and 2012. He totaled 29 tackles and forced one fumble.

Ezekiel Bishop - Denver, Colo. (ESPN: #98*** ATH) (Rivals: #55 ATH***)

Bishop is still at Arizona State, but many fans will not know his name. He redshirt in 2012 and only played in two games in 2013. Biship has been passed up by younger players at safety and figures to be a role player in 2015.

Specialist - 1

Josh Hubner - Scottsdale, Ariz. (ESPN: N/A) (Rivals: N/A**)

Hubner stepped on campus and earned the starting punting job in 2011. He averaged 41.3 yards per punt in 2011 and in 2012 he set a school record when he averaged 47.1 yards per punt. He was one of ASU's best weapons in 2012 and was named to a few All-American teams.

Analysis

Compared to the recruiting classes of Graham and his staff, this class is very weak. It was weak on paper in 2011 and looking back in 2015 it is still weak. Of the 19 players signed, only nine earned significant playing time in their ASU careers.

ASU's two highest rated signees, Michael Eubank and Mo Latu, have both disappointed and Eubank is not even with the program anymore. Of the 19 players to sign in this class, 13 of them are no longer with the program, that also takes into account the junior college players whose eligibility would have run out by now.

One factor for the number of transfers is the new coaching staff that was put into place in 2012. Graham brought in a sense of discipline and that was something a lot of Erickson's recruits did not know about.

The reason why ASU had to play so many freshman and sophomores this past season is because the depth of this class is very poor.

Superlatives

Biggest Surprise: Davon Coleman

Coleman came from the junior college ranks and immediately made an impact along the defensive line. Coleman was a significant contributor for three years.

Biggest Disappointment: Michael Eubank

Eubank was supposed to come in and win the starting job when Osweiler left. He reminded fans of Cam Newton in terms of the way he looked and played the game. Eubank had great highlight tapes but could never put it together on the field for ASU.

Best Player: Vi Teofilo

This came down to Hubner and Teofilo. While Hubner made the bigger short-term impact, especially in 2012, Teofilo will leave ASU after the 2015 as a three-year starter with over 40 games played. He has been very serviceable since arriving on campus and is one of the few multi-year starters to emerge from this class.

Note: Bercovici has a great chance to emerge as the best player from this class after next season but as of now he has not made a large enough lasting impact.

The Sun Devils picked up their fifth commitment of the 2015 class Saturday afternoon from Tony Nicholson.

The 2014 Arizona State spring football game started off with some good news for the Sun Devil coaching staff, as Arizona State picked up its fifth verbal commitment of the 2015 recruiting class. Tony Nicholson, an athlete from Grand Prairie, Tex., has committed to Arizona State.

Nicholson made the news public Saturday morning on Twitter, prior to Arizona State's spring football game.

The 5-foot-9, 171-pound Nicholson holds offers from Baylor, Duke, Indiana, Kansas State, Mississippi, North Carolina and Washington State. He is rated a 3-star prospect according to Rivals, Scout and 24/7 Sports.

Nicholson plays quarterback for South Grand Prairie high school but because of his size projects as a wide receiver or defensive back at the next level.

Head coach Todd Graham and his staff's ties to the state of Texas are paying off so far in this recruiting cycle. Of Arizona State's five commitments for the class of 2015, three of them come from the Lone Star State.

Below are some of Nicholson's highlights

Arizona State picked up a commitment from one of the best duel-threat quarterbacks in the nation Wednesday night.

When Todd Graham took the head coaching job at Arizona State, he vowed to make the state of Arizona a priority in recruiting. Even though he was able to snag D.J. Foster out of Scottsdale in his first class, the Sun Devils have had a difficult time landing the elite talent in the state.

Wednesday night, Graham's local efforts in the 2015 class got off to a great start, as Arizona State has secured a commitment from Chandler High School quarterback Bryce Perkins, according to this twitter account.

The 6-foot-3, 205-pound quarterback is listed as the No. 12 duel-threat quarterback in the nation according to Rivals.com. ESPN lists Perkins as the No. 13 duel-threat quarterback in the nation and the No. 4 prospect in Arizona.

In 2013, Perkins led Chandler to a 10-3 record, including their first victory over Arizona powerhouse Hamilton in school history. Perkins threw for 2,244 yards and 24 touchdowns in 2013, while also rushing for 808 yards and 18 touchdowns.

Perkins boasted offers from Arizona State, Arizona, Northwestern and UCLA. There was some speculation that Perkins may move positions at Arizona State, but according to ASUDevils.com, he will have a chance to play quarterback.

Perkins blood also runs through Tempe, as his father played running back at Arizona State. His brother is currently a running back at UCLA. Perkins is the third commitment for Arizona State in the 2015 class, joining running back Morie Evans and athlete Nick Ralston.

Just a reminder that all commitments are strictly verbal and non-binding until the prospect signs on the dotted line in February. Below are highlights from Perkins' junior season.

Arizona State should bring in one of its top recruiting classes in recent memory and the Sun Devils have a lot of offensive weapons they'll be excited to sign.

As the Super Bowl came to a close on Sunday night, many football fans lamented the end of the season. But for diehard fans, football is a year-round operation and this week offers the most exciting day of the offseason for college football fans: Signing Day.

On Wednesday, Feb. 5, high school and junior college players from around the country will sign letters of intent and make their final decisions on which colleges they will attend.

Many of the top players will have press conferences with television cameras, while others will have small ceremonies celebrating the next phase of their career. Either way, these recruits will "sign on the dotted line" and fax their paperwork into their schools of choice.

At Arizona State, the Sun Devil coaching staff will be eagerly waiting by the fax machines as Wednesday should serve as a reward for the hard work these coaches have dedicated to recruiting for the class of 2014.

The Sun Devils have the chance to sign as many as 26 scholarship players, and based on the list of current verbal commits, Arizona State expects to land an impressive haul.

On Monday, we'll take a look at the offensive commits that Arizona State expects to sign and on Tuesday, we'll bring you an overview of the defensive commits who should turn into Sun Devils in the near future. So without further ado, here we go.

Manny Wilkins, Quarterback

The Sun Devils are elated by what Wilkins has done for the program as the 6-foot-3, 185-pound quarterback has helped inspire other top talent to consider signing with Arizona State. Wilkins is considered a 3-star quarterback by Rivals and a 4-star recruit by Scout and both services named Wilkins one of the top quarterbacks available on the West Coast during this recruiting cycle.

Coltin Gerhart, Quarterback

Early on in the recruiting process, it looked like Gerhart would play safety in college. Now, the Vista Murrieta High School senior has had a change of heart and wants to give quarterback a shot. Though Gerhart could still end up on defense, Arizona State has promised him a shot on offense and the younger brother of former Stanford great Toby Gerhart should be an asset either way.

De'Chavon Hayes, Running Back

The first junior college recruit to appear on our list, De'Chavon Hayes is a 3-star running back out of Lackawanna Community College in Scranton, Penn. Hayes's highlight film shows his outstanding speed and at 5-foot-11 and 190 pounds, the JUCO recruit could have an instant impact on Mike Norvell's offense next season.

Demario Richard, Running Back

Richard is one of the players that Wilkins worked closely with throughout the recruiting process as the pair played together in the Semper Fidelis All-American Bowl. Richard is a 3-star recruit according to Rivals, but Scout likes the Palmdale, Calif. native as a 4-star recruit. Richard committed to Arizona State back in December, but he has a number of other enticing offers including Washington, Utah and Boise State.

Kalen Ballage, Running Back

Of all the verbal commits that should sign with Arizona State, Ballage is the Sun Devils' biggest concern. Ballage has always been considered a "soft verbal" commit and neither Rivals nor Scout is confident enough at this point in the process to turn that into a "solid verbal." Ballage is an athletic specimen and could play a variety of positions in college, but it's still too early to say where he will be playing his college ball.

Eric Lauderdale, Wide Receiver

Lauderdale's commitment was one of the more surprising commits of this recruiting cycle considering many recruiting experts opined that the 4-star junior college player would choose Florida. Late in his recruiting process, Lauderdale cancelled an official visit to Oregon and he also considered Nebraska as part of his final four. Lauderdale's film shows breakaway speed and he could continue the recent trend of impact JUCO players under Todd Graham.

Tyler Whiley, Wide Receiver

Whiley was an important "get" for the Sun Devils early on in the recruiting process because Arizona State has struggled with signing the top recruits in the state of Arizona of late. Whiley is a 4-star wide receiver and played cornerback in high school as well. Though he will likely start his career at receiver, some recruiting services consider Whiley an "athlete" and haven't labeled him with a position just yet.

Jalen Harvey, Wide Receiver

Harvey was another big verbal commitment for the Sun Devils because of the schools that were interested in the El Cerrito, Calif. native. Harvey's Rivals profile lists scholarship offers from California, Washington and UCLA. Harvey is considered a 4-star recruit by Rivals and a 3-star recruit by Scout, and he should join what is becoming an increasingly deep receiving corps under Todd Graham.

Nick Alexander, Wide Receiver

Alexander hails from Lancaster High School in Texas and represents one of Todd Graham's top priorities which is bringing top Texas talent out to Arizona State. Alexander verbally committed to the Sun Devils back in July and is a bit of a unique recruit because he played on an offense that primarily ran the ball in high school. Alexander saw more attention come his way by attending recruiting camps, so it will be interesting to see how he transitions to Mike Norvell's offense.

Brendan Landman, Tight End

Landman is the only tight end the Sun Devils plan on signing as part of their 2014 recruiting class, and he comes to Arizona State as a 2-star recruit. Landman has a terrific 6-foot-6 frame and will add weight in college to get ready for the rigors of the 3-back position that Arizona State asks its tight ends to play. Landman hails from Monte Vista High School in Danville, Calif. which is where Stanford found current-Eagles tight end Zach Ertz a while back.

Sam Jones, Offensive Tackle

Like Kalen Ballage, Jones calls Colorado home but unlike Ballage, Jones is squarely in the Sun Devils' corner heading into Signing Day. Jones is considered a 3-star offensive tackle by both Rivals and Scout and he stands 6-foot-5 which is a good size for a tackle at the college level. Jones pulled in scholarship offers from a few different Pac-12 schools and even made an official visit to Oregon, but settled on Arizona State back in October and hasn't looked back.

Quinn Bailey, Offensive Tackle

Aside from Jones, Bailey is the only other offensive lineman the Sun Devils are expecting to sign on Wednesday. Bailey should be a nice pickup for the Sun Devils' because he's a local recruit (Higley High in Gilbert) and is one of the top 15 players in the state. Bailey's film shows that he's fairly athletic for an offensive tackle and that gives the Sun Devils options when it comes to developing blocking schemes.

Stay tuned as House of Sparky will give a final overview of the defensive commits ASU expects to sign on Tuesday.

Just days before Signing Day, Arizona State learned that a long time commit won't be playing his college ball in Tempe.

The Arizona State Sun Devils are eagerly awaiting Signing Day for the class of 2014, but on Sunday, the Sun Devils learned that one of their top commitments for the class of 2015 has decided to go in a different direction .

Anderson committed to Arizona State in April of 2013 and according to Anderson's 247Sports profile, the safety wasn't offered by the Cornhuskers until Jan. 22 of 2014.

Anderson will not sign his letter of intent until the next recruiting cycle, and Arizona State still expects four players who played safety in high school to sign letter of intents on Wednesday. 3-star recruits DeAndre Scott, Dasmond Tautalatasi, Jamal Scott and Jordan Thomas are the four safeties still verbally committed to Arizona State.

In the 2013 recruiting cycle, the Sun Devils also pulled in an impressive haul at the safety position. Jayme Otomewo, James Johnson and Marcus Ball are three safeties from the class of 2013 that Todd Graham spoke highly of throughout the 2013 season and he expects all three to make an impact in the program soon.

Anderson's de-commitment comes as a surprise because he was a solid verbal commitment has not received many offers. Anderson's Rivals.com profile only lists offers from Arizona State, Nebraska, Colorado and Wyoming, but Anderson has now decided that Nebraska is his top choice until more offers come his way.

Editor's Note: A previous version of this article said that Anderson was a class of 2014 recruit. The updated version accurately reflects his status as a high school junior and a member of the 2015 recruiting class. House of Sparky regrets this error.

Arizona State is focused on closing out a solid 2014 recruiting class, but that won't keep the Sun Devils from looking ahead.

As Signing Day for the class of 2014 approaches, both Rivals and Scout recruiting services indicate that Arizona State is set to land one of its best recruiting classes in recent memory.

Less than five days separate football coaches and fax machines, but that hasn't stopped the Sun Devils from looking ahead to their next recruiting cycle.

On Saturday afternoon, Texas native and running back Nick Ralston tweeted that he has verbally committed to Arizona State as part of its 2015 recruiting class.

In his junior season, Ralston helped lead Argyle High School to a perfect 16-0 record and a Class 3A Division II state title. According to stats from Maxpreps.com, Ralston rushed for 1,800 yards on 223 carries and racked up 31 touchdowns. Ralston's most impressive performance came against Melissa High School in a 365-yard, 5-touchdown effort.

Ralston's ESPN recruiting profile lists his height at 6-feet and his weight at 213 pounds, which is relatively large for a high school running back. Ralston also plays linebacker for Argyle High School and though we can only speculate, his body type looks like he could be better suited for defense at the college level.

Ralston also becomes the second running back from Texas to commit to Arizona State for the class of 2015. Morie Evans of Huntsville High School committed on Jan. 16. Like Evans, Ralston's first offer came from the Sun Devils as 247Sports lists Dec. 19 as the date Arizona State officially offered.

This weekend affords the Arizona State coaching staff one final chance to make an impression on visiting recruits.

The end is near. Well, at least that's what the calendar indicates.

A lengthy and fruitful recruiting season is finally coming to a close across college football, but before Signing Day rolls around on Wednesday, coaching staffs across the country have one final chance to make an impression on recruits.

The Arizona State coaching staff has hosted a majority of its verbal commitments over the past two weekends and now, the Sun Devils will take on a different kind of challenge.

The final weekend of official visits gives the Sun Devils a chance to work with some of their top uncommitted targets so they can lock down commitments for Signing Day.

Asudevils.com and Devilsdigest.com are each reporting that Arizona State will host six different recruits this weekend who each have scholarship offers from the Sun Devils. Of those six, only DeAndre Scott is a verbal commitment to the Sun Devils which means Arizona State can attempt to sway its other visitors into joining the program.

The highest rated recruit visiting this weekend according to devilsdigest.com is Deondre Clark, who is currently a soft verbal commit to LSU. Clark is a 4-star recruit and is considered the eighth best defensive end in the country for the class of 2014 according to Rivals.com.

Clark visited Oklahoma two weekends ago and visited LSU last weekend but will take one final look at Arizona State before he makes his decision.

Asudevils.com was the first to report that another defensive end making the trek to Tempe this weekend is Southern California native Austin Maloata. Maloata was committed to USC, but Blair Angulo of We Are SC reported on Jan. 18 that Maloata de-committed. Maloata is a 3-star recruit out of Centennial High School which has produced Sun Devil greats like Will Sutton and Brandon Magee in recent years.

Keeping things on the defensive side of the ball, asudevils.com is also reporting that Pearl River Community College teammates Dalvon Stuckey and Darrius Caldwell are among those expected to make official visits this weekend.

Stuckey is considered the 12th best JUCO recruit in the country according to Rivals.com and is listed as a 4-star defensive tackle by Rivals and a 3-star tackle by Scout. Stuckey has already committed and de-committed from Miami and Auburn during this recruiting cycle so his decision will likely come down to the wire on Signing Day.

As for Caldwell, the 3-star defensive end committed to South Carolina two weeks ago but will make the trek to Tempe with his Pearl River CC teammate. Caldwell originally committed to Illinois out of high school before playing at Pearl River.

Aside from Clark and Caldwell, Arizona State is also hosting defensive end Will Coleman, according to asudevils.com. Coleman is considered a 3-star recruit by both Rivals and Scout and is verbally committed to Mississippi State. Coleman committed to Mississippi State back in October and made his official visit to the university last weekend. However, he will take a look at Arizona State before Signing Day on his visit to Tempe this weekend.

These six recruits will be the final official visits of the recruiting season as Signing Day takes place on Wednesday, Feb. 5. Arizona State is nearing full capacity in its 2014 recruiting class, but the Sun Devils clearly have an interest in the recruits visiting this weekend and are hoping to fortify their status on the defensive side of the ball heading into next season.
